Inclusive Fundraising

As organizations think about #InclusiveFundraising, we should also seek to portray nonprofits’ beneficiaries in the best possible light. Setting up a good photo can be challenging, but you can use these simple tips to show respect for the people that you serve: – Place your beneficiaries in the center of a photo, making eye contact with the camera. – Place your camera at the same hight or somewhat lower than the person’s eyes in order to set them as equals. – Be mindful of cultural contexts when sharing photos and images. – When showing context of their situation, be sure to remove any personal effects that might bring the person shame. – Show the photos to the people in them before publishing the images. – Keep a signed photo release on file.
