For over 50 years, Cornerstone Montgomery has served as a leading organization in the DC area as an independent, nonsectarian, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization with the capacity to serve more than 2,500 adults and transition-aged youth, specializing in the provision of comprehensive, community- and evidence-based mental health and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder treatments and interventions. The organization expanded its regional footprint and size upon acquiring an additional service provider, Southern Maryland, in 2023.
RBW Strategy first partnered with 2019 to support a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant application. The organization was new to federal grant-seeking and required additional support to ensure a successful submission. Since the organization is limited due to only having a Chief Development Officer, additional outsourced support was requested to expand its reach into new fundraising areas.
For over five years, RBW Strategy and Cornerstone Montgomery have worked side by side on private and public grant opportunities, leading to millions in additional funding each year for the organization. RBW Strategy’s support has led to additional new grant awards with an expanded number of funders, as well as additional federal grants since the original SAMHSA collaboration back in 2019. A strong collaboration has emerged, leading to expanded support across the grants lifecycle on other private and public grant opportunities, and post-award management of the SAMHSA grant
Since the partnership began in 2019, RBW Strategy has expanded the original SAMHSA writing support into the development of annual grant calendars, identification of new sources of public and private funding, development of a master grant narrative template, post-award management and reporting on public and private grant awards, and has continued to assist the agency in securing more grant funding each year.
