Mental Health

The National Institute of Mental Health reports that the numbers of people reporting symptoms of anxiety or depression, stress-related symptoms, initial or increased substance use, and/or thoughts of suicide are nearly double the rates we would have expected before the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the pandemic, the landscape of our workforce has drastically changed, and this has not happened without consequences to the workers themselves. In the nonprofit world, social distancing and remote work have separated us not only from our colleagues, but from the populations we serve and our donors.
Because of the significant increase in mental health issues amongst the nonprofit workforce, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is calling on nonprofits to develop and implement employee mental health and wellness programs.
